NDP MP Charlie Angus does a fine job of holding Industry Canada Minister Jim Prentice to account over Canada’s new copyright law that may or may not drop this summer. You’ll recall this law is a bad thing: beholden to industry while criminalizing many content uses we enjoy today. An unsurprising outcome, given that the bill was put together without any public consultation.
Memo to Prentice: when asked a direct question in Parliament, don’t answer with a stupid joke. But I guess you can’t ask for much more out of Canada’s most secretive government ever.

That was gold. You just know the parliamentary pages were all like “oh dis! I’m totally blogging this!” as they stood up and down between speakers.
I heard Jim the other day saying how we have to look at other countries with failed copyright legislation (America, Australia), as examples to look up to.
Later this summer, once I announce my terrifying legislation, I will ask you to remove this posting as it will be in violation.
The Honourable (Douchebag) Jim Prentice
