Lost footage from Metropolis…found!

Fritz Lang’s legendary 1927 film Metropolis is about to get a bit longer. Approximately 25 minutes of new footage, cut from the film after its original theatrical release, has been located in Buenos Aires.

The film preservation organization Murnau plans to add the scenes to the existing movie. The new scenes shed more light on character and includes a car ride through the city of Metropolis. So, the additions will likely make the classic sci-fi flick better. This is different than, say, anything George Lucas did to the Star Wars franchise after the 1980s.
